Week 1
January 3: Introduction to the course, in class discussion of persuasion. Notes. No homework.
January 4: Discussion of persuasive speaking, including picking appropriate topics for your audience, selecting a hook, and developing main points. In class group work (graded): Brainstorm three topics (one political/economic, one sports/entertainment, one of your choice) and develop a hook and three main points.
